Dan Crenshaw, USN SEAL wounded in Afghanistan, now running for Congress in TX CD2, responds to poorly-timed “joke” on SNL Weekend Update

But it does speak to a broader audience than just me, which is, generally, the many, many veterans who have been disfigured by war and apparently now that's fair game to make fun of their wounds to a...raucously-laughing audience...

Houston, Texas –

In an interview with nationally syndicated talk show host, Michael Berry, Medically Retired Lieutenant Navy SEAL Daniel Crenshaw responded to a SNL skit on their Weekend Update on November 3rd.

In the skit, actor Pete Davidson pulled up a picture of Crenshaw and said “I’m sorry, I know he lost his eye in war…or whatever…” {laughter from audience and Pete Davidson}.

Crenshaw’s response to Michael Berry: “I really question what this guy, what’s his name? (Michael Berry “Pete Davidson”) Uh yeah, I’ve never heard of him.  I question what kind of programs he is watching, first of all, and what kind of character development he enjoys in any given story…I think that was a little bit odd.”

He goes on to say:

“I think we should point out how inappropriate was it.  Not really just for me; it’s very hard to hurt my feelings; it’s very hard to outrage me…I have been shot at, it didn’t necessarily outrage me.  But it does speak to a broader audience than just me, which is, generally, the many, many veterans who have been disfigured by war and apparently now that’s fair game to make fun of their wounds to a…raucously-laughing audience…”

Dan Crenshaw FB Cover PhotoCrenshaw is a medically retired US Navy SEAL who lost his right eye on his third combat tour, in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan.  He went on to serve two more tours (in the Middle East and Korea) after he recovered from his injuries.  He is now running for US Congressional District 2 in Texas, which is being vacated by Congressman Ted Poe due to health concerns.

Gruntworks Media will be at Crenshaw’s Election Night Watch Party and will follow up with his likely victory over Democrat Todd Litton on Tuesday, November 6th, 2018.
