U.S. House CD-2 (Texas) Candidate, Dan Crenshaw, a retired Lieutenant Commander U.S. Navy SEAL and Purple Heart recipient has committed to helping people in the Congressional District 2 in Texas by running 100 miles (through the district he is running for) starting on February 20th, 2018.
Beginning on February 20th, Dan will begin the run from Linkwood Park, and will run approximately 20 miles each day for five days, ending at the northeastern edge of the district, all the way past Lake Houston, on February 24th. Every day he will make various stops to meet residents, supporters, and volunteers along the 100-mile route.
On February 25th, Dan is hosting a Finish Line Party at the Overlook in Atascocita, Texas. Also in attendance will be special guest Marcus Luttrell, former Navy SEAL, founder of the Lone Survivor Foundation, and author of Lone Survivor. SGT P, Gruntworks Editor In Chief will be in attendance with a live feed on the Gruntworks FaceBook Page. For free tickets to the event, click here.
But Dan isn’t just running to show his determination; he is running for a cause. Dan will be focusing on running through neighborhoods that are still rebuilding from the flood and drawing attention to the plight that many Houstonians still face.
“There is still rebuilding to do, and we need more funding and workers to do the job.”
– Dan Crenshaw
Lieutenant Commander (Ret.) Crenshaw has a GoFundMe account set up to collect donations for the various volunteer groups that are out there every day rebuilding their neighbor’s homes. These groups include the Helpers of Bear Creek, Crossbridge Christian Church, and Church of Champions. This money will NOT go towards the campaign.
Dan believes in overcoming all odds and he knows that Texans do also. After an IED explosion in Afghanistan took his right eye, he deployed two more times; a true testament to his grit and dedication to his country. He then pursued his master’s degree at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He believes in proving that sense of service and dedication to the voters of the 2nd District in Texas.
