Weekend Safety Brief 15DEC2017

Gather up, bring it in, etc.

Like many of you, I have been following the politics that has been oozing out of sports, TV, talk shows, entertainment, and the news of late. These fuckers have forgotten their place.  It seems to me that with the exception of actual political pundits and editorial TV shows, most of these asshats are supposed to be ENTERTAINING us.  They are NOT supposed to be lecturing us on the latest virtue signaling bullshit that strikes the fancy of Social Justice Warriors.  I have quit watching the NFL (long before Kaepernick), don’t watch talk shows, avoid main stream media, and am disgusted with the bullshit that seemingly every actor or musician has to say about every tiny little thing.  On the other hand – last night I rediscovered something awesome…

Last night I went to a minor league hockey game. I went as a guest of the Wounded Warrior Project, was given tickets, food, a puck and got to meet the team.  I watched the game with a bunch of rowdy vets of all persuasions (black, white, Hispanic, gay, straight, whatever), my lady, and a couple of cocktails.  The National Anthem played and EVERYONE stood.  The vets rendered a salute while everyone else held their hands over their hearts.Shroom Tech Banner

Then the game started. It was fucking brilliant.  Smash mouth hockey is something you need to see live if you have not.  It was not my first game, so I spent a lot of time explaining it to others around me.  There was violence, profanity, and no fucking snowflake bullshit.  There were fights and vitriol among the opposing teams – but at the end, they shook hands and went on with business.  Everyone left a fan of the game.  It seems like this is one of the few bastions of old-fashioned barbaric violent entertainment.  It was glorious.

In short – go watch hockey (preferably in person) – even the minor leagues. They still entertain and give zero fucks about the political bullshit.

Many thanks to WWP and the Jacksonville Icemen.

One quick Question for all of you – reply in the FB comments – “Rey” in those new Star Wars movies – Smash or Pass?

Now, some of you are starting your block leave for the holidays. Those who aren’t get with someone or let us know here if you need a place to chill and have dinner on Christmas.

Those who are out of here, make sure you sign out on leave, and file your travel plan and contacts properly.

Make sure your transport is Good To Go – including your flights.

Double-check your luggage for weapons, ammo, etc. Don’t give TSA an excuse to hassle you.

Head on a swivel – Hajji still wants to kill Americans (and you allies out there too), keep your head out of your phone and be alert.

DO NOT bring back a stripper to enroll in DEERS come January 8th, I’m looking at you Meech.

Try not to get too sideways drunk at the Christmas/ Chanukah party.

Remember to do a little PT while you are home, so that first run doesn’t destroy you.

OK – Platoon Sergeants, Take Charge, and GTFO.

Many thanks “Top”, brings back the old memories every time I read your posts.
I hope you and everyone at gruntworks have a great and safe Christmas/New Years.
This time of year is hard on many of us for various reasons. It just feels good to relive a bit of years gone by.
    Black 7 out.
