Gruntworks Sunday Sermon

Sunday Sermon

Greetings Brothers and Sisters!

We’ve just wrapped up the Four Horseman.  Revelation is a tricky book.  I’ll come back to more after study and prayer.  I don’t want to write something down that could be wrong.

I’m bringing to you a topic that is contentious in many churches.  Giants. Yes, I said giants.  Not New York or San Francisco.  Real actual giants.

You know of Goliath…the Philistine champion who was slain by David.  The smallest of all the giants alive.  He was the runt.  People in and out of churches debate whether he was just tall for the times or an actual giant.  Let me break it down Barney style on his gear.

His coat of armor was roughly 150-190 pounds.  The shaft of the spear was 2.5 inches thick.  The spearhead itself was roughly 20 pounds.  He had greaves and a helmet of bronze.  He himself was roughly 9 to 10 feet tall.

Goliath of Gath was a member of the Tribe of Anak.  Anak was the leader of his tribe of giants.  His 3 sons were encountered when the spies from The Book of Numbers go check out the promised land.

So you say “but Padre, he’s just one big dude”  I’m glad you asked.  Now I break out some more good information.

Listen to these names:

Rephaim, Emim, Zuzim, and Amelekites.Product Block God and Country

Fours names, Four different tribes.  More tribes existed I’m sure.  God has been fighting their existence since the Flood.  Saul was removed as King of Israel because he didn’t eliminate the tribes that lived in the flood plain around Sodom and Gomorrah.  Hence the compounded sins that lead to the destruction there.

Stay tuned for next week when I go into more detail about the tribes, and really dig deep.

Blessings and prayers,
