Sunday Sermon – Horseman 4

7. And when he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, Come. 8. And I saw, and behold, a pale horse: and he that sat upon him, his name was Death; and Hades followed with him. And there was given unto them authority over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with famine, and with death, and by the wild beasts of the earth. (American Standard Version)

Greetings everyone.  Forgive my absence last week.  It’s a busy time at the Padre household as the Mrs. begins to transition to a new job.  I’m a busy father in the family sense.  The last time we met we discussed the Third Horseman of the Apocalypse.  We’ll conclude the study series on this topic with the Fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse.

To recap:  We had 1) The Conqueror, 2) War and Destruction, and 3) Famine.  As you see in the verse, John is in Heaven watching these events unfold and is told to “Come” and watch.  John watches the Lamb open the fourth seal.  Coming forth is something that is probably something John could never imagine seeing.  Death riding a pale horse, running free to lay waste to the nations.Product Block - Powder Dry

This is a logical progression too.  War leads to famine, famine leads to death by the sword, pestilence, and starvation.  Look at Somalia.  That nation has been at war since our troops were there last time.  Now the 101st is going again (God bless you troops!)

The nations of the world are wracked by famine and starvation.  Disease is spread because people are dying left and right from lack of nutrition.  People are poor and can’t get medicines that keep the sicknesses away.  Vaccines?  Forget it except for the people who fall in line with the first horseman.  Look at Venezuela.  They have nothing, and people are eating rats, dogs, pigeons and anything else they can get.

Brothers and sisters prepare your souls and yourselves.  Prepare to help your fellow man when times are tough.  If you have extra, even if you don’t you are called to help and care for those who are in need.

I leave you with these words from Jesus in his Olivet Discourse:

3. And as he sat on the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? 4. And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man lead you astray. 5. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ; and shall lead many astray. 6. And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that ye be not troubled: for these things must needs come to pass; but the end is not yet. 7. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be famines and earthquakes in divers places.

Blessings this Sunday as we celebrate the resurrection of our Savior!
